Today is The King’s first State Opening of Parliament as Sovereign.

His Majesty will wear the Imperial State Crown, which is traditionally worn by the monarch for ceremonial occasions such as this. You might also recognise it from the Coronation in May, as it was worn by The King as he left Westminster Abbey at the end of the Service. The Crown was originally made for the Coronation of King George VI in 1937.
