14-year-old Knox MacEwen decided to participate in a 5K held by the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program (which he was a member of) at his high school on Saturday.

However, after the race he suffered from cardiac arrest. He was then transported to Memorial Hospital Miramar where he was later pronounced dead.
