It’s still one of my fondest memories and probably the biggest lesson I learned in sports. Before these championships, I was off the ice for a month and away from competition for two months because of an injury - I had no idea how I was going to put everything together for one of the most important times in my skating career. I felt powerless since I couldn’t train and prepare as I had hoped. I felt that I had two options: quit or just let go. Once I decided to go with the latter, it made me surrender and changed my outlook on how I was going to compete. It was freeing to let go knowing that whatever will be, will be #queserasera. I still reflect back on this time now and again and I’m reminded to let go of situations or scenarios that I have no control over. It’s a liberating and freeing thing just like this performance here.
