Shing02さんのインスタグラム写真 - (Shing02Instagram)「Luv(sic) Part2 / Hexalogy art by SYU I first met SYU (Shuichi Nagai) when he was at a crossroads with his passion for art and graffiti, his family contacted me out of the blue so we met up in Tokyo. He gifted me a piece of art (never before seen! last pic in scroll) which inspired me to ask him to do the cover art for Luv(sic) Part2. I was working on the song with Nujabes in the aftermath of 9/11 and I really liked the female "tennyo" he incorporated into the lettering. He completely blew me away when he delivered the colored artwork to be scanned, and the rest is history, as he went on to do several more covers for Nujabes and Hydeout Recordings. It also reminds me how hiphop is built on a youth movement, that someone so young and fresh can create lasting pieces of art and music. SYU has kept a low profile since but we keep in touch. A couple of years ago, he reached out to tell me that he'd like me to hold on to the original art. He's incredibly talented, deserves his props and I hope to see more of his work in the future. 🙏🏻 ps - for the Hexalogy cover, originally we had intended to use his new work depicting a phoenix but it was already reserved by another artist.
