'Don’t wait for inspiration. It comes while one is working' - #HenriMatisse

This painting shows Matisse’s apartment in Paris, where he lived and worked from 1899 to 1907. In the foreground we see a carefully arranged still-life of a vase of flowers, jugs, a glass containing a long spoon and a lemon on a small stand. 🍋🥄💐 Still lifes and domestic interiors were typical of Matisse’s works of the time. He was attending many life drawing and sculpture classes - you can see some of his own sculpture casts stored on top of the wardrobe.
