The badger may look cute and cuddly, but at its core, this might be one of the toughest creatures in the animal kingdom. They are impressive diggers, using their long, thick claws to break up the ground while their powerful back legs kick excess dirt away. In an altercation they can hold their own, hissing, growling, snarling, and releasing an unpleasant musk designed to drive threats away. But, perhaps the most hardcore thing about them is their ability to eat rattlesnakes, as they are unaffected by the snake’s venom unless they are struck on the nose.
