This is the upper headwall of the west buttress of the Devils Thumb, the peak we climbed in Alaska this summer. It marked the culmination of a month and a half journey to get there; @トミー・コールドウェル and I were both incredibly psyched to climb the last few pitches, especially because they were surprisingly good climbing in an incredible location.
I’m pretty sure that @renan_ozturk took both pictures, though our entire team contributed. It’ll all be on @natgeotv eventually…
For the climbers out there: we freed the traverse of the Devils Thumb and its satellite peaks in something like 17h camp to camp and 11.5h on the actual climbing. We climbed up to 5.11- maybe, or maybe 6b/c, hard to know the ratings for sure since we were simuling along with backpacks. Great rock; far better than I would have expected for Alaska.
