As the demand for thinner watches increased in the 20th century, the competition became particularly intense in the field of miniaturisation.
Later on, ultra-thin watches became a core activity for Audemars Piguet and the revealing of the Calibre 2120 project represented a major technical feat in the industry with a thickness of only 2.45 mm.
In 1967, the Calibre 2120 earned the title of the world’s thinnest selfwinding movement, a status it retained for decades.
