The newlyweds spoke to The New York Times in an exclusive interview about their relationship. The couple first met in 2005 when their mutual friends set them up on a blind date. Laign had previously watched the “Today” show rather than “Good Morning America,” the program hosted by @robinrobertsgma. “I didn’t know who she was,” Laign said. The couple bonded over their differences, and now, they are embracing the spotlight together. “I could not have imagined as a young girl growing up in Mississippi that I’d be sitting here with you in New York City, with my fiancée who is a woman, and freely, openly and passionately talking about it,” Roberts said.
