This tranquil body of water is actually a reservoir for agricultural use. It was built to warm the water flowing down from the Yatsugatake mountains, which would be too cold to use for growing rice otherwise. Visitors are awed by the beautiful scenery that reflects in the pond’s surface. *Entry to the embankment is prohibited so it is not possible to get close to the pond.
