And don’t get me wrong - there is no right way to play this shot (or a similar, shorter distance away from the pin) except to the best of your ability. Which is why putting is the better option for many, and we do it as well at times e.g. British Open style courses 🙌🏻

But here’s why pros would chip it more often:

1. We try to hole every chip shot. 👆🏻

2. By taking out the unevenness of the fringe, there is a higher chance for it. 🙌🏻

3. The above makes distance control more controllable. ⛳️

4. We don’t mind tight lies (at least most of us). 🤷🏻‍♀️
