The metallic blue legs and bright orange abdomen of the greenbottle blue tarantula make this species hard to overlook. As an inhabitant of the deserts of northern Venezuela, this arachnid has had to become quite tough in order to survive in what can be described as a very harsh and dry climate. To protect its home from weather events, this tarantula will build webbing around the entrance to its burrow, which also aids the spider in catching nearby prey. Photo taken @lincolnchildrenszoo.
