The regent honeyeater was once an abundant bird in Australia. Unfortunately, the species population plummeted due to many factors, but mainly habitat fragmentation and degradation 🍂

Hear from Dr Ben Pitcher, Behavioural Biologist within Taronga’s Welfare, Science and Conservation team, and who is one of the expert team members working on the recovery of this critically endangered bird. It’s a huge effort to protect and recover a species and requires many different organisations and expertise to support these programs. One such supporter of this program is La Trobe Financial.

Tune in to learn about this beautiful species, and the important role their unique songs play in their plight for survival and visit this species on your next visit to Taronga in our Wollemi Aviary, map reference F5.
