Tracking the States Where Abortion Is Now Banned
The New York Times is tracking abortion laws in each state one year after the Supreme Court’s decision to end the constitutional right to an abortion. Here’s a snapshot of access across the country.
Most abortions are banned in 14 states, and Georgia bans abortion at about six weeks of pregnancy.
In many states, the debate over access continues in courtrooms, where advocates have sued to block enforcement of laws that restrict the procedure. Other states have moved to expand access to abortion by adding legal protections.
