Our three performances of Android Opera Mirror at the Theatre du Chatelet finished last night.
In this work, I wanted to depict the fragmented possibilities after the end of the world. The android was singing texts generated by ChatGPT, monks who continue to circle around the android chanting prayers unchanged since time immemorial, and an orchestra of remaining humans performing a mixed ritual, but it comes to an abrupt end.
How many endings are possible? We can take this as reincarnation, or perhaps the beginning of a tragedy that the true end will never come. But if the music there is moving toward a new harmony, then all is not so bad.
I would like to thank all the audiences who participated in the new experience or a “ritual”; the monks of Koya Mount, the Appassionato orchestra, Justine Emard, Shintaro Imai, the staff who worked with us, the Théâtre Châtelet, and Android Alter 4. I am happy to come back to Paris to perform at this time. Let's keep making interesting works again.
アンドロイドオペラミラーの全公演が終わった。世界の終わりの後の断片的な可能性を描いてみたいと思った。そこにはChat GPT を歌うアンドロイドや太古から変わらない祈りを唱えながらアンドロイドの周りをまわり続ける僧侶たち、残された人間たちによるオーケストラが混然一体となって儀式を行っていて、しかしそれは突然に終わりを迎える。終わりはいくつあるのか？これを輪廻転生と捉えることも出来るし本当の終わりは来ないという悲劇の始まりかもしれない。しかし、そこにある音楽が新しい調和に向かっているなら全ては悪くないとも思う。
この儀式に参加してくれた全てのオーディエンス、高野山の僧侶のみなさま、appassionato orchestra、一緒に作り上げてくれたスタッフ、テアトルシャトレのみなさま、そしてアンドロイドオルター4、本当にどうもありがとう。このタイミングでパリに復帰出来て嬉しかった。また面白い作品を作り続けよう。
