Shinano Kokubunji Temple
(Ueda City)

Once the national temple of Shinano Province, Shinano Kokubunji Temple’s history goes back nearly 1300 years. It was constructed by order of Emperor Shōmu in 741.

Its traditional structures are a must-see, particularly the main hall, which enshrines the Yakushi Nyorai Buddha. From mid-July to mid-August, you can also see lotus flowers in bloom here.

Annually on January 7th and 8th, the Yōkado Ennichi festival is held, and people travel here to purchase lucky daruma figurines and sominshōraifu talismans.

毎年1月7日から8日にかけては“八日堂縁日”が開催され
厄除けのお守り「蘇民将来符」や
縁起物のだるまを求める人々でにぎわいます😀✨️
