Sixteen years after his arrival in Paris, Zao Wou-Ki had become one of the most illustrious representatives of the New School of Paris and lyrical abstraction. This was in March 1963, the exact moment the Chinese-French artist painted ’24.3.63’.

Sotheby’s specialist @armance.gm joins us to elaborate on this period in the artist’s career, known as the Hurricane Period, ahead of the #SothebysParis Art Contemporain Evening Auction on 5 June.
