In this time, I have traveled the world and did my best to bring people together, and in some cases, unfortunately- I drove them crazy🤷🏾‍♂️😎 The NBA helped grow me into the man that I am today. I hear many people say that athletes aren’t role models, but I disagree! I was a role model as a player and now as a retired athlete-that doesn’t change. Remember, you do not have to be a person of high status to be a role model. People look up to you because they see that you work hard, or that you always say and do the right things. My accomplishments as a player had a profound affect on peoples lives. We take for granted the impact sports has on our world and the people in it. I no longer play basketball but I am still an ambassador to the game and I will try to find every way possible to grow the game. This past week, I traveled to India to help grow the game of basketball in a place where cricket rules the roost. I watched my first cricket match, ate some authentic Indian food and toured some amazing historical sites and everywhere I went, I had the pleasure to talk about how great the game has been to me and what we can do to teach young Indian kids how to play the game of basketball.
