I get that and you are absolutely right, I do speak from a privileged position, I am certainly not a saint, but in a way we are all sinners in a very flawed system. I never considered myself an activist, I was the shy one in the corner. I have flown frequently when I was still working abroad a lot (I have been in an airplane 3 times in the last two years) ,I own leather jackets and I am not a vegan (yet). As far as I'm concerned, this doesn't mean that you shouldn't act. We need system change, not fingerpointing at individuals. Try to let go of your cynicism, it all distracts from the main topic. Inform yourself, share, protest, tell greener stories, use your platform, suck on sustainable straws till you drop dead, but acknowledge who the real big players/polluters are. We still spend an obscene amount of money (82 MILLION EURO’S A DAY😱) on fossil fuel subsidies in the Netherlands alone. Demand just and responsible policies from your bank, from the government. Demand the truth. In the meantime, do what you can. Try to make conscious choices. We're in this together. Normalise activism. I feel responsible to use my voice and platform to inspire others to take action in any way they can. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't need a medal, I don't need a pat on the back. You can unfollow me, i've got bigger fish to fry. I do this out of necessity and am primarily intrinsically motivated by the love for my 6 year old boy. I never want him to ask me ; why did you not do anything while you still could ? What was so f***ing important ? If you dare to see reality, (I only dared to do that 3 months ago) see the absolute urgency of the matter and not only understand it intellectually, but also feel it in every fiber of your body, you can't help but act.Then you can and may no longer look away.
