Documenting the ancient craft of Kama with 16th generation master craftsman Onishi Seiwemon and his son Seitaro.
LOEWE FOUNDATION has established a bespoke funding program to support the traditional craft of Kama iron tea kettles, made by the Onishi family since the Edo period. The initiative aims to safeguard the heritage of their 400 year old craft and cultivate future generations of Kama craftspeople.
Portraits of Seitaro also feature in photographer Coco Capitán’s exhibition at KYOTOGRAPHIE 2023, sponsored by LOEWE FOUNDATION. Capitán’s portraits are displayed alongside this film.
