An odd memory passed through me today.
I remember, quite fondly, taking spin classes at the Equinox on Upper Broadway with this true gentleman, Chris Griffin. I was told a few years ago that he passed away.
With a body like bamboo, Griffin’s class was nearly monastic. Low wattage house music.
Griffin giving only terse commands: “Up…Back…Attack…Rest”
No chit chat. No undulating on the bike like a stripper pole. He was the most no nonsense coach I ever had. You rode WITH Chris. He pulled you into his rhythm. When it was over, you wanted to do it again.
I miss you Chris.
