Phil Knight and his wife, Penny, are donating $400M to a new investment fund aimed at supporting Portland’s Black residents 👏👏
The fund, called the 1803 Fund, is designed to finance education services, art programs, and other initiatives for Black Portlanders residing in the inner North and Northeast Portland areas, historically known as Albina 🙌
Albina was the heart of Black society during the early 1900s, but suffered severe losses in the 1960s when city-sponsored urban renewal projects demolished homes and community centers.
Phil Knight expressed his belief that this investment fund has the potential to elevate the community and provide hope for the entire city 🙏
