«A partire dalla volontà di Massimo Giorgetti di supportare giovani artisti all'inizio della propria carriera, abbiamo deciso di premiare il lavoro di Jenna Bliss, che si basa su lunghi periodi di ricerca e su produzioni di lungometraggi, fotografie, video e sculture. La serie Friendship (2022) ci ha colpito per l'evocazione di un passato recente, ma ormai dimenticato, in cui le nostre mani erano libere dagli smartphone. Attraverso il premio siamo felici di poter sostenere la produzione della sua prima mostra personale in una istituzione».

‘The practice of artist and filmmaker Jenna Bliss is driven by the critical observation of her immediate environment, and the tracing of connections between complex economic and social forces that shape the historical present. Embarking on generative long periods of research, Bliss distills her findings, in long-format films, photographs, short videos, and sculptures.

Her series “friendship” translates her current research around the financial crisis in 2008 and the time before into small wall-based objects. The shape resembles an enlarged iPhone generation 1, which was released in 2007. The images depict hands in pixelated colorful backgrounds, taken by a first generation web cam, and reminiscing early digital relationships. As physical witness, the fingerprints on the touch screen remain visible, and connect the personal and the digital.’
