‘Don’t Let Me Down’ was written by John as an expression of his love for Yoko Ono.
In 1970, he said to Rolling Stone magazine: “When it gets down to it, when you’re drowning, you don’t say, ‘I would be incredibly pleased if someone would have the foresight to notice me drowning and come and help me,’ you just scream.”
This video is from The Beatles’ final live performance, on the rooftop of Apple Studios - though they didn’t know it would be their last at the time.
