“Good things take time, great things take a little longer.” To my young, impatient and impulsive self, hearing those words would usually be followed by an exasperated sigh and mental resistance.
Now, being in my late twenties and truly understanding the gift of compound interest, I see the beauty of experiencing life through the lens of a marathon rather than a sprint.
Learning how to be patient and practicing deliberately slowing down is changing how I am experiencing my day to day. No longer am I overwhelmed by anxiety and guilt of not always being “productive” and “busy” in this results driven society. I have also shifted my definitions of what those two words mean.
I am still learning how to become my most optimized self. But I am doing so in a way that supports my well-being by lessening the comparisons to external metrics and rather focusing on how I have improved from who I was yesterday. 🫀🌸
