今年に入ってから以上マーラーを指揮しています😎
日本では2月にジャパン・ナショナル・オーケストラと小編成で演奏した交響曲第1番「巨人」ですが、今回はトーンキュンストラー管とオリジナル編成で4回の本番です。
実はこの曲、作られた当初は「花の章」と呼ばれる楽章があったのですが、発表時に削除されてしまったのです。マーラーの時代はまだまだ、交響曲は4つの楽章で構成されるべきだとか、この楽章も含むと1時間を超えて長すぎる等が理由はないかと想像できます。
マーラーの最初の管弦楽曲と言われている交響曲第1番に、この「花の章」を2楽章に据えて全部で5楽章構成にすると、この前に演奏した７番も同様ですが、真ん中の3楽章に3拍子のスケルツォがあり、その両サイドに遅い2、4楽章がきて、そして1楽章と5楽章が始まりと締めくくりという形で全体が構築され、マーラーの交響曲に対する世界観がはっきり見えてくると僕は考えています。

まぁこういった理屈はいろいろあるのですが、今回「花の章」付きで巨人を演奏する一番の理由は、ただただこの楽章の美しさ故。トランペットのソロは格別です。

I have conducted Mahler’s symphony more than 10 times this year.
Last February, I participated in a part of @japan_national_orchestra, conducting the small orchestra version of Mahler’s Symphony No.1 “Titan.” This time with @tonkunstler_orchestra, we are performing the original big orchestra version.
When Mahler composed this symphony first, he wrote a movement called the “Blumine,” but it was deleted when the score was published. I can imagine there were still reasons why “Blumine” was deleted: it was considered that a symphony should be composed of four movements, or it’s too long to perform/listen to including this movement, in Mahler’s era

If we put “Blumine” as the 2nd movement of the Symphony No.1, the composition would be:
- a three-beat scherzo for 3rd movement
- slow 2nd and 4th movement around 3rd mov
- 1st and 5th movement as the beginning and the last
This composition is the same as Mahler’s 7th Symphony, and I believe we can understand Mahler’s view of symphony clearly.

Well, there are some theories like this, but I mainly include “Blumine” because of its beauty. The trumpet solo is exceptional.
