She fought tirelessly for ten years straight, brining her husband’s murderers to justice. On November 23, 2006, after watching her husband deteriorate from polonium for 23 days, Marina lost her husband, and her son Anatoly lost his father. In 2016, the British court finally named Andrei Lugovoy and Dimitry Kovtun as the killers who poisoned Sasha Litvinenko, and Vladimir Putin as the ultimately responsible party. In 2021, the European court finally came to the same conclusion. Putin continues to kill with impunity.
