もうすぐ第60作目となる2021年NHK大河ドラマの放送が始まります。今回の主人公は渋沢栄一。「日本資本主義の父」と呼ばれた渋沢栄一は、欧米との対等な関係を築くことを急務とした明治政府の要請に応え、海外の要人を迎賓する施設として、「帝国ホテル」設立の発起人筆頭となり、開業後は初代会長にも就任しました。渋沢翁が残した「用命があれば世界のどんなものでも調達して便宜を図る。これこそ帝国ホテルが自身の果たすべき役割と心得、絶対に譲らないところだ 。」という言葉は、今もなお帝国ホテルの創業の精神として受け継がれております。
