The Hotaka Mountains Dyed Red at Dawn
(Matsumoto City)

During the early morning when night has yet to fully release its grasp on the world, the first rays of light of the day fall upon the mountains, dyeing them in red.

In Japan, hikers refer to this beautiful phenomenon as Morgenrot, the German word for dawn/red sky at morning.

This magnificent scenery is reserved only for mountainous areas, and for those willing to wake up early enough to see it.
