Euterpe, Muse de la musique, joue de la flûte traversière et porte une couronne de fleurs. Thalie, Muse de la comédie, tient un masque qui évoque le théâtre. - 🎭 Dans la mythologie, les neuf Muses, filles de Zeus et de Mnémosyne (la mémoire), évoquent les différents thèmes de la création artistique. C'est Apollon qui conduit leur cortège et inspire leurs travaux. - 🎨 Cette composition colorée et élégante ornait, en compagnie de quatre autres tableaux peints vers 1650 par Le Sueur, la chambre des Muses, pièce de l'hôtel de Lambert de Thorigny. Thalia, the Muse of comedy, is holding a mask in reference to the theater. - 🎭 In Greek mythology, the nine Muses were the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory. Each Muse represented a different art. Their cortege was led by Apollo, who inspired their creations. - 🎨 This elegant and brightly colored painting, along with four other paintings by Le Sueur dating from around 1650, was part of the decoration of the Cabinet of the Muses at the Hôtel Lambert.
