INCANDESCENT. The moody, maritime reception space at @santamonicaproper was inspired by one of my design icons, the late Ingo Maurer. A pair of 1970s Uchiwa bamboo sconces by Ingo encase the entrance’s wall with a glowing light. Inspired by traditional fans made in Japan, his wall lights are extremely delicate, made of bamboo and lacquered rice paper. It’s so special to be able to create spaces with pieces from my design heroes…XK
