While Mentari already operates a transitional house for long-term stays in the city, this shelter will operate as a transit point for survivors waiting for a space in short-term shelters. “We are part of a city task force that includes law enforcement teams. They’ve called us more than 20 times in 2020 to know if we could shelter people who needed emergency assistance,” said Shandra (@shandravoh), Mentari’s founder and CEO. “There were only four occasions when we could accommodate them.
