Lately, dozens of Yangtze finless porpoises were spotted frolicking and foraging in the Duchang waters of Poyang Lake, Jiangxi, China. The Yangtze finless porpoise is an indicator species of the Yangtze River ecosystem. It is included in the IUCN Red List as a critically endangered species and is also called "the giant panda in the water". Protection measures such as fishing moratorium in the area result in improvement of the ecological environment for the foraging and breeding of Yangtze finless porpoise.
