Soundtrack open “Everything must change” and the Jazz trio Martin, Medeski & Wood starts to swing, it’s our first show during Paris Fashion Week Rue Visconti in a 200m2 Atelier, we invited as many people as we could, we had about 100p turnout, we didn’t have enough space or chairs but people went with it, in the Audience @sarahandelman @markholgatenyc , Terry Jones (merci Sarah), Laure Heriard @thewebster , The New York Times and influent buyers from many big cities. My friend Antoine Wagner @antoinewagnerstudio and our buddy Cisco are filming on a handycam. Backstage it’s me, Oino San (my Business manager & friend) and the fantastic hairstylist @olivierschawalder, the space backstage we have to work with is about 15 m2 if it is (we built a wall the night before thanks to @diplomates__ )and we are about 20 people in there! With the models who were so kind to make it happen nonetheless. At the entrance mon ami, the one and only Lucien Pages @lucienpages who worked so hard to make people aware of the event and bring them until the last minute despite a very rough time and the crazy packed schedule. It’s the first show for both of us! We designed all the looks to convey a new elegant feeling that was taking proportions, low waist, details, layering, fabrics, a feel inspired by streetwear (sounds kind of random maybe but in 2011 Paris W fashion week didn’t look or care for streetwear) It was a huge gamble for me, a make it or break it moment. I remember doing the interview with Meenal Mistry of style.com (now at WSJ Meenalmistry on twitter) and @rebeccavoight from Interview Magazine. I tried to find the best words to express the ideas and efforts I put in the collection I dreamt to do for many years, the pixelated voiles on the faces were to represent change, a transition, a new perception, something digital also, so were glitch patterns and saturation in some pieces. It was Tuesday March 8th 2011. The days after the articles were published and it was such a fantastic feeling, from dream to real.
