I lived in some spectacular and unique places while on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック but this house (see pic 2) perched on the edge of Mercury Island was one of the most memorable. Situated in the Atlantic Ocean off the Namib desert, Mercury is Namibia’s most pristine seabird island. On calm days the soundtrack was African penguins braying donkey like or Cape gannets calling in shrill chorus. In stormy weather the island (which is partly hallow) rumbled and thundered beneath my feet.
