テート・ギャラリーさんのインスタグラム写真 - (テート・ギャラリーInstagram)「Recently we celebrated the opening of Chila Kumari Singh Burman's 'remembering a brave new world', a stunning installation of light and colour which illuminates Tate Britain's facade. Here's @ChilaBurman beaming on the gallery steps. 💜 Born in Liverpool, Chila describes herself as a ‘Punjabi Liverpudlian’ who likes to combine her Indian roots with popular culture. Her playful works are often inspired by her childhood memories. In this work she combines Indian rituals with memories of family visits to the Blackpool illuminations and her parents’ ice cream van. 🍦 Other glowing features include Hindu deities (gods and goddesses) such as Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and purity, and Ganesh, the god of prosperity. Hanuman the monkey god and several illuminated animals, including a life size tiger and a peacock 🦚 are juxtaposed with luscious lips and winter snowflakes. ❄️ A celebration of new beginnings, remembering a brave new world lights up the dark nights and offers us hope for a brighter future. ✨ The installation is visible outside Tate Britain until 31 January 2021, perfect for a morning cycle or an evening stroll (we hear flasks of hot chocolate or mulled wine help with the cold). ☕ Click the link in our bio to learn all about the work and the fantastical world of Chila Kumari Singh Burman.
