This is for you. I received this lovely bag as a gift from Dior in celebration of it’s exclusive launch in the Dior boutique on the Rue Saint-Honoré and thus the bag’s name, “Dior St Honoré”. The minute I heard the name and opened the bag, a memory of my very first trip to Paris returned. The visit was a long time dream deferred, yet I was only able to be there for 48 hours and had to regretfully decline invitations I had waited years to receive. I slipped away from business for a solitary hour and took a walk on the Rue Saint-Honoré. It was here the seduction began. Teaching responsibilities calling me home, I returned with a bottle of perfume to turn to as a potion to contain my disappointment at having my newfound love affair end so abruptly. Sure enough as happens with a dream we hold on to and nurture even when the time may be not be right to realize it, a year later I got to return. This time I luxuriated in the history, the heritage and the delights one finds on the Rue Saint-Honoré and elsewhere in Paris. Now with this lovely gift, a tote big enough to contain all my Paris memories, I can fly back in my imagination whenever I wish.
