This is the actual time piece that started Sylvester Stallone’s passion for the brand as well as the watch that he wore in the “Daylight” movie. He loved it so much he never removed it during the entire filming of the movie. It has been generally credited for the launching of the brand to where it is now and inspiring a trend of bold and larger watches. Stallone brought this piece back to the states with him and shared the watch with many friends and celebrities like Arnold Schwarzenegger who followed suit and embraced the brand. Within a very short time Panerai got more and more global recognition and as a direct result the US market opened widely and some would say a “star” was born. The watch is being auctioned off in the exact way it was first purchased by Stallone. The unpolished 5218-201A case is on the original sharskin strap, along with its original mahogany box, two additional Panerai Pre-Vendome straps with sewn in buckles, and its original brass screwdriver. Along with the watch comes with a handwritten letter personally signed by Mr. Stallone on his private stationary describing the watch along with an original 1996 studio issued-lobby card from the film also signed by Sly.
