Go behind the scenes with our conservation team!
Conservators Alice Derham and Teresa Heady talk you through the painstaking process of conserving this beautiful Tibetan thangka ready for display in our #TantraExhibition in their blog. Link in bio.
When it arrived in the Museum’s Hirayama Studio in summer 2019, it was in poor condition, with light-damaged silk borders and flaking paint. The work involved our Scientific Research department who helped to X-ray the thangka, among other things!
Follow the process and see what they learnt about this amazing object – link in bio.
Book your tickets to see it on display in our five-star exhibition at britishmuseum.org/tantra.
