Glass has been used to make both stunning and practical objects around the world for thousands of years – here’s some classy glass from the collection ✨

♻ Our scientists can identify objects that have been created from recycled glass, and even where the original glass may have come from. In some cases, the glass in certain objects was produced centuries earlier – helping shed more light on the life of objects in the collection. Scientific research like this can reveal a vast range of information about the people who created an object, used it, recycled it, reused it and finally deposited it.
