Photo by @sarah_stacke / You never know exactly what a day on assignment will offer and that’s a thrill. I ran into Dana Robinson at Chota, the site of a long-ago Cherokee town in eastern Tennessee. Dana was running his Beagles to let them practice catching rabbits. In between serious mosquito attacks, I caught a moment between Dana and Queenie, one of his beloved pups.

Chota was destroyed in 1780 by American forces during the Revolutionary War. After losing possession of the land for about 200 years, Chota is again owned the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians. A memorial at the site honors the Cherokee history of the land, which is now visited by tribal members and the public.
