Well, my birth story wasn’t any easier. We get so used to hearing about the beauty and excitement of birth (especially on IG) its easy to forget the women out there like me who face unbelievable challenges. I’m so grateful and privileged to have had an amazing team: my OB, midwife, doula, and amazing nurses helped me get through 30+ hours of labor, a really scary emergency c-section, and 5days in the hospital while I started recovery and my sweet baby was in the NICU. Even with all of them at my side, the whole experience has left me wrecked, physically and emotionally. I’m still trying to figure out how to talk about exactly what happened, to wrap my mind around it myself, but I’m sharing because I know I’m not alone. We shouldn’t have to recover in the shadows and pretend like everything’s ok when it’s not. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my incredible husband. This kind of thing is not easy for partners either. Yet his unwavering strength and love got me through some dark dark moments... and continues to. Now that I’m recovering at home and struggling because I can’t do much of anything for my baby while I recover, I watch him in awe. He’s the perfect Dad. (My incredible Mom and Dad are helping so much too. Having them, a night nurse, and a post-partum doula who checks in on me is a privilege I don’t take for granted. Not everyone has that kind of support, but everyone deserves it. I know how lucky I am) Finally and best of all, I have my beautiful amazing baby. Her middle name is HOPE and she’s living up to the name and more🤍 I won’t be sharing her likeness here as I’m choosing to protect her from the wild wild west of social media, but I’m sure I’ll have more mom stories to share, if you’re interested.
