Compared to the U.S., whose population is around 15% Black, Black Italians make up 1.6% of the total population; however, that dynamic is changing fast. As Jean puts it: “We have a whole new generation of Italians who are from multicultural backgrounds, and they are totally invisible not only to the government but also to the fashion industry.”
