受賞にあたり

ボン・ハンチョン監督の「Driftting」は実際は16分という時間の中で過去から現在、未来へと豊かなタイムラインと、強い心象風景を審査員に残しました。
主人公が抱える問題はよく知られながら、長らく解決きれていない難しい問題なのですが、この作品の存在感は、説明の仕切れない生命力を携えながら、たった今は問題を解決し切らずとも未来へ突き進んでいくという決意に思えました。

The “Drifting” directed by Bo Hanxiong is a 16-minute short film, but it articulately portrays a rich timeline of the past, present and future and the powerful landscape was engraved in the mind of the jurors.
The struggle the protagonist has is well known but very hard to find a complete solution. Having said that, we had an impression that this work was filled with indescribable vital energy and that its presence embodied the determination and will to just keep going for the unforeseeable future along with such unsolved struggle.

「一人っ子政策」が実施されていた中国で、第2子として生まれたヤン。両親は長女を田舎に隠し、ヤンを女子として育てた。成長したヤンは、自らの性について葛藤し、保守的な地域社会は彼を異質者として扱う。彼が自分を解放できるのは、父親の所有するタクシーを走らせている時だけだった。
