“Unity in diversity”

“Unity in diversity” is the national Indonesian motto “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” ( An old Javanese phrase ) which signifies the counties myriad of cultures and ethnicities all living across 17,000 islands.

I’ve been on an endless quest to learn about each ethnic group and discovered these breathtaking images of vanishing traditional costumes of real Indonesian women from just a few of this country’s islands dating back to Circa 1900’s. Such power, such strength, such grace, such elegance.
