東急線沿線にある路地裏のご紹介。
渋谷駅から道玄坂を登ったところにある「円山町・神泉エリア」。
江戸時代には宿場町として栄え、明治20年頃からは花街に。そして、現在は個性的なレストランやバーが多い”裏渋”と呼ばれています。
夜遅くまで賑わっているこのエリア、週末の朝から昼過にかけてはまるで眠っているかのような静けさが漂います。
かつては多くの料亭があったこの街は、頭上に張り巡らされた電線や当時の雰囲気そのままの建物など、昔の面影が所々に残っています。また、円山町から神泉へと繋がる階段がいくつもあるのが印象的でした。

Interesting backstreets along the Tokyu Lines.
Here’s the Maruyamacho/Shinsen area located behind Shibuya Station when you head up towards Dogenzaka.
In the Edo period, the area bustled with local lodgings and inns but shifted to a red light district after 1887. Now it’s known as the “Shibuya underground”, booming with local restaurants and bars. The streets come alive until the late night hours, then become a quiet ghost town again during weekend mornings before lunch. Once filled with little local eateries, you can still find the original buildings and old-time flair along the stretch of train tracks. There are also stairs that connect the Maruyamacho area to the streets of Shinsen, making for quiet the picture.
