Blank out is used when you are speaking or thinking about something and right in the middle of it you forget you were talking about.

For example

👩I went to my university to take the qualification test and umm...

🧑And then what happened?

👩Well..I blanked out during the test. And I couldn’t remember what I wanted to say.
