The Maison’s most iconic pair are the Red Nail Gloves, featuring lacquered finger tips on black snakeskin, which the designer presented as part of her 1936 Winter collection. The pair was inspired by Man Ray's 1935 image of black and white hands painted by Pablo Picasso, and were specifically created to complement the silhouette of the Dalí Cabinet Dress.   The 1936 Winter collection, a witty mix of art and fashion in collaboration with Dalí, saw the hand become its symbol – it appeared across all pieces in the form of belt buckles, buttons, or clips, and in the Claw and Nail Glove range.   Gloves continued to embody the #espritschiap in the collections that followed. The Circus Collection of Summer 1938 offered gloves with dramatic ruffles in shades of pink for evening, the perfect companion for the Schiaparelli Tears dress. Another pair of pale green suede gloves saw ruffles unexpectedly grace its golden fingers. Buttons were no longer necessary thanks to the innovative use of a stretch crêpe. The gloves in Schiaparelli’s 1939 Music Collection, made of either silk crepe, white leather or sensual sheer tulle, were embroidered with golden signs by Lesage. One of Schiaparelli’s most important styles from the glove family is an audacious pair of hands in mismatching colours, featuring a blue vein effect and gelatine discs reminiscent of chainmail armour.  The avant-garde creations that were Schiaparelli gloves caught the eye of the fashion icon and art collector Millicent Rogers, who regularly wor them as a statement piece.   The surrealist emotion and sensibility that defined Schiaparelli gloves still thrive today under the creative direction of @danielroseberry.
