I read about many people who had experienced some kind of tragedy that first began with discrimination or separation. I pray that the notion of “respecting one another”, a sympathetic heart and mind that is foundational for so many Japanese people, can spread across the world and help us overcome these tragedies. That is why it is especially in times like these that I believe that “art” can connect all of these different cultures, all of these different ethnicities of the world, and bring a certain “light” to it all. This work that is a part of HOMEMADE is one that I created by digging deep, deep into the vortex of my thoughts amid this COVID-19 pandemic.
