ピカピカ. Broadcast one time only, The 38th episode of the first season of Pokemon was shown on Tokyo TV in 1997. When Pikachu stopped a missile with a thunderbolt attack, a scene involving bright flashing lights in a strobe effect resulted in almost 700 kids hospitalized with symptoms likened to that of an epileptic seizure. I clearly remember as a kid this was the first time I heard about Pokemon (on a BBC news report). Even when I see Pikachu chilling in a park like in this photo, I can't help but think of that incident - the 'Pokemon Shock.' Links to original TV report and Japanese reports in stories.
